Married by Rabbi Newman.
In a letter, dated 25 September 1939, to her brother Gottlieb (Doc) she writes: "Now about those birth places of mother and father is what we heard her speak about, but she did not know just what place papa was born. Yes we did address letters to grandfather Arnsdorff in Kalweitschen Posen. But it did not belong to Russia, it was on the boundary between Prussia and Poland, on the Prussia side. You may of heard him speak of Koenigsberg and Danzig as they are the larger citys. As Kalweitschen is only about a dozen homes. As the children grew older they went to the larger places as they do here. You know I got most of my information from papa sister when she was alive and lived in Indiana. Also when Chas and I took our trip to Europe in 1920. We took a trip from Berlin through Danzig to Koenigsberg where a sister of papa and a cousin was living at that time, you heard papa speak of his brother Moshie, his son was living in Koenigsberg at that time. He directed us down to Insterbury where we meet a nother cousin of papa and his wife went with us to Kalweitschen to see Uncle Moshie who was still living in their old homestead. But it was very much destroyed in the war by the Russian." |
